Project Description

Type; Timber Sleeper Retaining Wall using the REYNARD WOOD Multi-Purpose-Plank product. Residential home in Ulladulla NSW, up on a hill with sloping contour where front garden bed leaking into grassed section causing soil erosion problems. Solution to apply functional retaining wall that is cost effective and long lasting without the need of heavy lifting machinery. Owner of the residential location had a small budget allowance, yet still consideration on longer lasting product lifecycle was of importance.

What We Did

Utilise new innovative wood technology, eliminating the use of Australian natural timber resources, and applied best practise timber sleeper retaining wall methodologies as the REYNARD WOOD works the same as hard wood timber.

• Planned and Measured the Area
• Use a level to keep String Line Straight
• Left a Drainage Gap at the Back
• Dug Holes the same Depth as the Posts Height
• Choose REYNARD WOOD for all Sleepers and Posts
• Measured Posts and Attached Sleepers to Posts
• Marked out the Posts and Setup String Line to Level
• Level the Posts and then Poured the Concrete
• Installed drainage into stormwater

Project Challenge

Dramatic sloping conditional environment, with high soil erosion to prevent between the garden bed and grassed lawn area. The following steps were taken.

RESULT

A retaining wall can transform your outdoor garden areas and provide functional barriers between areas of your property, adding character to your front yard. As this project was under a small budget much of the work was all completed by one person, and the costs of the REYNARD WOOD sleepers were like that of hardwood, however saving Australian tree use and delivering a longer life cycle of the solution.
